8-22-08

Was able to figure out game pad input fairly quickly. Though now I need to turn that into a well put-together input class. It'll take a bit more research to check for everything but should be fairly simple. Only like a gazillion buttons and stuff.

Buttons: RT, RB, LT, LB, L3, R3, A, B, X, Y, Back & Start - - - These seem to only have Pressed and Released States

Thumb Sticks (Left and Right) - Give you a Vector2 value in floats. 1.0 through -1.0 for each X and Y. I'll have ...

So I picked up Spore this week and it is a great game. However, the unit creation program in the game allows me to model anything I want so I figured I would model my ideas there and then transfer them into graphics for us.

Special Weapons.

Limit these weapons based on ship type, player level, etc.. lots of things

How many can you have. We have lots of buttons... RB, LB, RT, LT, A, B, X, Y, R3, L3, Back, Start... we could forseeably let the player have up to that many sub weapons.

Sub - Weapon ideas

Shield

Protections from X shots.

Nuke

Kill all enemies

Reflector

Weaker shield that reflects bullets

Idea for utilizing a Missions & Jobs style of game play. (think Freelancer)

My thought on this is two-fold.

#1 - Game will have an end.

. . . but

#2 - Endless repeatability.

So the idea is that, you have two types of levels you can choose to play.

Missions - These are the levels that are completely static. Static Bosses, enemies, everything! Missions also move the story forward.

Jobs - These are randomized levels, with scaled difficulties. Some have bosses, some ...

I was thinking, if you have access to a hi-res scanner or something, and you wanted to. You could hand-draw the artwork instead of generating it on a PC. I think it would give the game a bit of a unique art perspective, and I thought you prefered hand-drawn art over CG.
